Join A Healthier U and the Drexel Meditation Group for a special five-part workshop on Tai Chi Qigong. RSVPs are required to attend. You do not need to attend all weeks in order to benefit from this series. This series is designed as a drop-in series. You may RSVP for up to three sessions. When RSVPing, please specify which weeks you plan to attend. Beginners are welcome.

The Tai Chi Qigong Exercises can be described as “meditation in motion.” In addition to reducing mental stress and physical tension, these gentle movements massage the internal organs, move the major joints and increase energy, agility and flexibility. The set is suitable for anyone regardless of age or ability, and can be done sitting or standing.

These simple and safe yet effective movements were developed in China in the 1980s to be easier to learn than traditional Tai Chi forms, but they are still beautiful, flowing exercises that follow the same Tai Chi principles to bring deep relaxation and physical benefits, which is why they have become one of the most practiced qigong (“energy-work”) sets around the world.

No special clothing is required, but please wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move in, and please wear flat-soled shoes. No heels.

Instructor: Ralph Quinn is certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute to teach a variety of sets and styles of tai chi and qigong in Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Health program. He has taught tai chi safely to people of all ages, drawing on his practice of the Yang style tai chi form of Cheng Man-Ch’ing for over 40 years. He is also a student of qigong under Master Faxiang Hou, director of the Qigong Research Society in Mt. Laurel, NJ.
