Troy Carter - Renowned Music Manager and Entrepreneur
Start Date: 3/9/2015Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Date: 3/9/2015End Time: 12:00 PM

Event Description

Troy Carter, renowned music manager and entrepreneur, will visit campus to talk to students about his disruptive approach to entertainment, media and technology.

Carter, who is also the Dean's Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at Drexel, is known for establishing the careers of numerous recording artists, including multi-platinum Grammy-winner Lady Gaga, and began his own career in Philadelphia at Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment. As the founder and CEO of the pioneering media and music management company Atom Factory, which works with such artists as John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Lindsey Stirling, Carter is known for his uncanny knack for identifying industry trends.

As an entrepreneur who continually seeks out new platforms, methods and technologies, Carter will speak to his own experiences in the entertainment industry and offer students insight into building successful careers and creating brands with value. Carter joined Bad Boy Entertainment in 1995, where he worked with groundbreaking artists such as Notorious B.I.G., and in 1999 he formed the boutique talent management company Erving Wonder, which quickly became one of the preeminent artist management firms in the country and was acquired by the Sanctuary Group in 2004.

He is the founder of AF Square, an angel fund and technology consultancy that holds interest in more than 60 technology companies at various stages of growth, including Uber, Dropbox, Spotify, Fab, Pinterest and Lyft. Through Atom Factory, he also recently launched POPwater, a new beverage company that has skyrocketed in its success as a low-calorie alternative to soda.

The 11:00 a.m. lecture is open to all Drexel students and will take place in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert St.). No registration is required.
