The built environment is the human-made space in which we live, work and play. In an interactive session with in-room and online participants, FAIMER fellows and invited guests will examine the connection between health and the built environment, with focus on applying these ideas to local contexts.

By the end of the forum, participants will be able to:

  • Define the built environment.
  • Correlate place-based data regarding socioeconomic factors with individual health status.
  • Delineate characteristics of the built environment that positively correlate with health.
  • Identify characteristics of a successful collaboration between experts in health and the built environment.
  • Create opportunities for interprofessional collaboration and education to enhance health through enhancing the built environment.

Registration
Virtual participants, either individuals or small groups, will have access to the live-streamed session, and moderators will incorporate virtual participants’ input into plenary discussions. Group participation is encouraged! Having at least one other person participate with you will enhance the experience considerably, and small groups of four to six face-to-face participants are ideal.
