Learning Objectives

  • Name five key SAMHSA recommendations for providing evidence-based treatment for patients with opioid use disorders during pregnancy and postpartum period
  • Compare and contrast the benefits and drawbacks of different medications to treat opioid use disorder
  • Identify the reasons detoxification is not recommended by any international or national guidance publication
  • Articulate at least three actions any person working with pregnant or post-partum patients with any substance use disorder can take to promote healthy outcomes for mother/birthing person and child
