Event Description Dave Mauriello, Associate Program Director of Animation in the Digital Media Program of Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, along with Kristopher Connell, Mark Petrovich, Jr., and Glenn Winters, all graduate students in the Digital Media Program of Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, will give an overview of four different approaches in digital media to capture and represent 3-dimensional data for use in visualization and analysis. Spatial and motion capture techniques will be explored, along with solutions for making such data more visualization friendly. These techniques will be contrasted by a purely manual development of 3-dimensional data. Each approach will be explored through both theory and practical application examples of organic modeling, which explores the creation of human and animal animation with an emphasis on both anatomy and physiology.
