Event Description
This Learning Hour is for anyone who has ever served or is interested in serving those in other countries or with differing needs. The session will explore the topic of volunteerism in a multicultural, multi-faceted environment. It explores the ethical issues that confront those who are involved with serving in these varied situations. Ms. Shirin Karsan will share experiences and lessons learned from the weServe “Service through Innovation” program here at Drexel.
About weServe
Drexel weServe "Service through Innovation" is an experiential learning and leadership development experience for students through a firsthand understanding of healthcare needs and disparities at a local and global level, and to address such unmet needs by service through innovation and partnership. WeServe works with several local partners, such as the Inglis Foundation, is established internationally in The Gambia and Mozambique, and has received a Student Leadership Award from the Jenzabar Foundation.

Shirin Karsan is the Special Projects Manager in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems at Drexel University, and Director of the local and international weServe Program. Ms. Karsan holds a Masters degree in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Bioethics.
