Start Date: 4/9/2015Start Time: 3:30 PM
End Date: 4/9/2015End Time: 4:30 PM

Event Description
Sharon Stephenson, PhD, Gettysburg College

Sixteen years ago a report entitled “A Study on the Status of Women Faculty in Science at MIT” kickstarted a national conversation about who does science and why. I will focus on what the American physics community has done and is doing to better understand the gender imbalance in our discipline. I will also reach beyond physicists helping physicists and present an overview of recent social science research that can help us understand the slow growth towards physics equality in the U.S.
