Institute of Food Technologists Student Appreciation Night

Event Description
The Center for Hospitality and Sport Management is proud to host the Institute of Food Technologists Student Appreciation Night on April 30. Scholarship winners will be announced at this dinner. Join us for a fun  event and a great chance to network! 

Schedule is as follows:
 
Science Fair Set Up: 4:00-5:00 PM (winners of the Delaware Valley Science Fair)

Cocktails: 5:00-5:45

Speaker: 5:45-6:15, Dr. Marcia Pelchat, Monell Chemical Senses Center

Presentation of Awards: 6:15-6:45 (they will announce scholarship winners)

Dinner: 6:45-8:00

Cost: $45.00 per person.

Flavor: It's All In Your Head

Marcia Levin Pelchat’s  major research interest is the development and modification of food and beverage preferences in humans. Recent investigations focus on brain mechanisms and learning mechanisms for food cravings, and on the distinction between liking and wanting. Other research interests include ameliorating rejection of novel foods, taste genetics, food preferences in the elderly, and adult picky eating. Dr. Pelchat is an Associate Member at the Monell Chemical Senses Center, an independent nonprofit institute for basic research on the chemical senses and nutrition in Philadelphia. She is a University Scholar and a Phi Beta Kappa, Suma cum Laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Nutritional Psychology. She also received her Ph.D. from Penn’s Department of Psychology where she was a Fellow of the Institute of Neurological Sciences. She is on the editorial board of the journal, Appetiteand is an Honorary Professor of Gastronomy at the Restaurant School in Philadelphia.
