VP Franklin Award - Africana Studies
Start Date: 4/1/2016
End Date: 4/1/2016
Event Description
The Africana Studies Minor at Drexel is pleased to officially announce the undergraduate student call for papers for the 2016 V.P. Franklin Award. The V.P. Franklin Award recognizes an outstanding essay that highlights critical issues within Africana Studies.

Essays must have been written for a CoAS course during the past year (spring 2015 - winter 2016). Current students, and recent graduates, who wrote a paper on an issue related to Africana Studies, should consider nominating themselves for this award by submitting their paper for consideration. This competition is open to all AFAS and AFAS cross-listed courses, as well as courses taught throughout the College of Arts & Sciences. Students may be from any of Drexel's colleges and do not have to be an AFAS minor to qualify.

Named for one of the founders of the Africana Studies program at Drexel University, this $500 award will be applied directly to the winner’s student account.

Submissions are due via email by April 1 at 4 p.m.

All essays will be considered. Though there are no page/word count requirements, it is highly suggested that submissions are a minimum of two pages. Essays must be submitted to Jessica Kratzer, Africana Studies department administrator, jkk55@drexel.edu. Please include with your submission: the name of the course, the professor’s name, and the term in which the paper was written. Please also indicate that you are submitting a paper for the V.P. Franklin Award.
