Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify ways in which a child's environment and experiences shape early brain development
and know that exposure to violence can cause changes in brain development and function.
- Recognize harsh parenting and be able to discuss how physical punishment can negatively
affect a child's behavior.
- Integrate prevention strategies and be able to discuss positive parenting techniques
and recommend more effective discipline strategies with parents and caretakers.
Target Audience
Attending physicians, referring physicians, nursing staff, residents, students and other health care professionals who care for children.
