Event Description Info Session on Goldwater Scholarship The Goldwater Scholarship is the nation’s premier award for highly ambitious and talented undergraduates committed to research careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) fields. Goldwater Scholars receive $10,000 for their final one or two years of undergraduate study and are identified as a future scientist of the highest potential. This award requires university nomination; pre-application is due Monday, October 29th. To eligible, students must be US Citizens, plan to graduate in 2014 or 2015, and be committed to research careers in STEM fields. In addition, Goldwater Scholars typically intend to get a PhD in their field, have very high GPAs, have undergraduate research experience, and often have publications in the works.
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry M. Goldwater. The purpose of the program is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified American scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to top college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields.
