Event Description
In April, Walshy Fire, of the EDM trio Major Lazer, will visit campus for a series of student and public events. Born in Jamaica and raised in Florida in a Chinese-Jamaican family, Walshy brings reggae and dancehall inspiration to Major Lazer, his partnership with the Black Chiney sound system, and his independent musical projects. He launched his own label, Walshy Fire Presents, in 2015, extending his reach from Jamaican dancehall culture to hip-hop and other genres. In partnership with our Music Industry Program, Walshy will attend classes to speak with students about the entertainment business and music production. The visit will culminate in a public performance in the URBN Center Lobby on April 10th.
