Event Description
Ellen Annandale, professor of sociology, Department of Sociology, University of York (UK)
This talk explores the quandaries that health care professionals face in providing choice to women based on an ongoing study, "Interactional Practices of Decision-Making During Childbirth in Maternity Units." Preliminary findings will be presented, particularly focusing on the challenges of determining women’s capacity to make informed choices during childbirth and health care professionals’ preferred approach during labor and birth. The consequences for women’s engagement in decision-making about their care are explored. |
