Event Description
Kristina Wong, performance artist, comedian
Kristina Wong is a critically acclaimed performance artist, comedian, writer, actor, educator, and filmmaker. She “was recently featured in the New York Times’ Off Color series ‘highlighting artists of color who use humor to make smart social statements about the sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious ways that race plays out in America today.’ She has created five solo shows and one ensemble play that have toured throughout the United States and UK."
Kristina will tackle "The Politics of Debt" in her lecture at Drexel. Wong’s lecture will give a fresh perspective to the relationship between money and power, and our individual and societal (and seemingly never-ending) spiral into deeper debt. This event is associated with Love, Rage, and Debt, a spring course at Drexel, which explores the sociological implications of debt on a personal, local, national and international level.
Since this event is intended for a smaller, more intimate audience, you will need to RSVP to Jacqueline Rios at jsr62@drexel.edu.
Kristina Wong is currently on tour, and will be performing at the Kimmel Center on April 14-16.
Co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the Women’s and Gender Studies program, and the Department of Global Studies and Modern Languages. |
