Advances in Research and Clinical Practice in Tick-Borne Disease
 

Conference Description and Goals

  • Discuss innovations and current research on history, vectors and pathophysiology of tick-borne diseases
  • Discuss prevalence and recognition of tick-borne diseases
  • Present and analyze impact of tick-borne disease on patients
  • Present, discuss and analyze diagnosis, including differential, of tickborne disease patients, including case study presentations
  • Present and discuss pharmacological treatment and management approaches of tick-borne disease patients, including cases study presentations
  • Present non-pharmacologic intervention to manage symptoms and prevent functional decline in patients with complex tick-borne disease

Speakers

The event includes 12 presenters from various disciplines within the field of tick-borne diseases, including moderator Steven J. Bock, MD; Robert Mozayeni, MD, president, International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society; and Drexel graduate student Kayla Socarras, MS, Microbiology & Immunology program and member of Drexel's Center for Advanced Microbial Processing, who will speak about Drexel's work on global tick microbiome analysis.

Two keynote talks will be given.

    Historical Context and Progress in Lyme Disease Science and Practice
  • Ying Zhang, MD, professor, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
    Research Advances in Lyme Persistence and Treatment

Target Audience

MDs, DOs, NDs, DMDs, DVMs, PhDs, PsyDs, RNs, NPs, PAs, LCSWs, DCs and other health care providers.

AMA Credit Designation Statement
The Drexel University College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AOA Credit Designation Statement
This program is eligible for 8.5 credits in Category 2A of the American Osteopathic Association.
