Event Description Free speech, a seeming cornerstone of the academic enterprise, has come under fire recently by those who say that unfettered speech can make it difficult for them to learn. The issue has sparked debate on college campuses across the country. Should speech be monitored? Should trigger warnings be added to texts? Where do we draw the line between freedom and abuse, sensitivity and censorship?
This is the topic of “Free Speech on the College Campus,” a forum sponsored by the Pennoni Honors College of Drexel University. This forum will feature talks by media critic and cultural gadfly Camille Paglia and eminent feminist law professor Laura Beth Nielsen. Expect lively debate and probing conversation. |
