Dean's Seminar: Research, Education and Conservation in Central Africa's Changing Climate

Central African rainforests represent one of the world's most important centers of biological diversity. Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon have made significant strides in developing protected areas to conserve this region's unique biological heritage but, despite their advances, habitat loss and hunting continue at alarming rates, and global climate change is already impacting the region.

The Central African Biodiversity Alliance (CABAlliance) unites U.S., African and European researchers, government officials and conservation professionals to address these issues. The overarching goals are to: develop an integrated framework for conserving central African biodiversity; translate this framework into policy recommendations; and promote opportunities for international collaboration and training in a new generation of biodiversity and environmental scientists.

Mary Katherine Gonder, PhD, will discuss the research, educational and outreach activities of the CABAlliance and how the Drexel community can get involved.

This event is free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
