Event Description Hugh Dugan, fellow at the Center for United Nations and Global Governance Studies of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University
While diplomatic techniques have evolved in response to needs and communications technology, the activity itself is inevitable and has never been more important.This two-hour event will give students a chance to learn what diplomacy is, what diplomats do, and how foreign policy is made, from a highly-experienced diplomatic professional. Mr. Dugan is an international affairs scholar and an expert on United States participation in the United Nations Organization. He served in the U.S. Diplomatic Corps from 1983 to mid-2015, most recently as senior adviser to the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and as U.S. Delegate to United Nations intergovernmental sessions. Mr. Dugan is a Fellow at the Center for United Nations and Global Governance Studies of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University and has served as the Sharkey Visiting Scholar on UN Studies there. He advised the Scott Walker presidential campaign on foreign affairs and UN issues (2015). He is a popular lecturer to university groups and is sought out as an opinion leader on matters related to the Olympic Movement.All students will highly benefit from this Master Class, especially those interested in international policy and business.
