Uma Narayan, PhD, professor of philosophy on the Andrew W. Mellon Chair at Vassar College

Feminists have been among those enthusiastic about microcredit as a way to help poor women out of poverty by lending them money to start small businesses. This presentation critically examines the ways in which microcredit actually appears to work, offering a corrective picture.
