Event Description
The Department of Psychology presents "New APA Journal Article Reporting Standards (JARS): Implications for Transparency, Scholarship, Scientific Rigor, Reproducibility, and Open Science" with Arthur Nezu, PhD, DHL, ABPP, Distinguished University P rofessor of Psychology, professor of medicine, and professor of public health.

The American Psychological Association (APA) recently released the new Journal Article Reporting Standards (JARS). This represents both a revision of the 2008 JARS for quantitative research and the development of a new set of reporting standards for qualitative research. Standardization of science reporting in scholarly journals fosters transparency, methodological integrity, and the ability to accurately replicate previous research. New guidelines focus on clinical trials, N-of-1 designs, replication attempts, longitudinal and observational studies, and research applying structural equation modeling and Bayesian analyses. In addition, standards are provided for meta-analyses, qualitative research, and mixed method designs. Dr. Nezu will provide important highlights regarding the new JARS and discuss the implications of such standards for open science both nationally and internationally.
