This Ain’t Agriculture: How Industrial Agriculture Hurts Animals and Public Health
Start Date: 4/8/2014Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Date: 4/8/2014End Time: 7:30 PM

Event Description

Join Dr. Bernard Rollin for a discussion on the impacts of industrial agriculture and methods for making it more sustainable.

Though agriculture has traditionally been based on an environmentally sustainable model emphasizing good animal husbandry, over the course of the 20th century the emphasis on cheap, affordable food pushed agriculture into an industrial model. This industrial agriculture poses major challenges to society because of its negative effects on animals, the environment, and the public's health.

We can meet these challenges in the future by learning from the past and once again placing animals in environments befitting their natures. Not only is this good for the animals, but it will also help to ensure an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible agriculture for the future.

Free and open to the public.
