Event Description
Staff Ground Rounds is a continuing education series for frontline clinical staff. Each learning session is designed to help attendees sharpen skills, keep up with the changing demands of today’s health care environment, and continue professional growth.
All clinical staff are welcome to attend these sessions. Attendance is mandatory for medical assistants, who may earn CE credit for their participation.
Topic Keys to Engaging Patients in Conversations About Healthy Lifestyles
Increasingly, the focus of health care is to keep patients healthy, not just to treat them when they get sick. At Drexel University Physicians, we have a growing focus on helping patients manage their health through excellent preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices. This course will help prepare medical assistants to initiate productive conversations with patients about healthy lifestyles that set the stage for their visit with the provider.
Drexel Psychiatry clinical instructor and motivational interviewing network trainer, Carol Auerbach, MA, will share a framework for understanding how people change, and provide communication techniques to identify and build on patients’ own motivations to make changes to improve their health.
Refreshments will be available in the lobby outside the auditorium starting at 2:30 p.m. and again after the session.
Registration on Career Pathway opens soon!
Mark your calendars for the rest of the series in 2016: June 10, August 12, October 14, and December 9.
