Event Description Dr. Dawn M. Elliott, professor and director of the biomedical engineering program at the University of Delaware, will discuss how her team's research investigates structure-function relationships in load-bearing fiber-reinforced tissues and joints, including intervertebral disc, tendon, and meniscus. Dr. Elliot and her team study the changes that occur during development, with degeneration and injury, and following therapeutic intervention. This presentation will describe Dr. Elliot's and her team's recent results from this multi-scale approach, which integrates mechanical testing, mathematical modeling, and imaging from the entire joint-level to the tissue and the micro-scale level.
