Dean's Seminar: "A Million Black Holes and Counting"

While the existence of black holes was once a topic of fierce debate, today we are most concerned with how to find more of them, hoping to discover the secrets they hold about the history of our universe.

Gordon Richards, PhD, will discuss how and when black holes were confirmed and the ubiquity of super-massive black holes throughout the universe. He will also explore how next-generation astronomical surveys like the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (under construction in Chile)—which will uncover as many as 10 million super-massive black holes—can be used to sharpen our understanding of how galaxies like ours came to exist.

This event is free and open to the Drexel community. Light refreshments will be served.
