Event Description
General Information:

Drexel is planning the first annual Biomedical Engineering (BME) Week at Drexel University that will run from May 19-22, 2014. The themes for our first BME week are startup companies and translational research. As part of the week, we are planning a Startup Company and Small Business Expo, wherein companies will showcase their ideas, network with each other and our students, and share their entrepreneurial spirit with the students. This event will take place on May 21, 2014 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Registration begins at 9:15 am. Free-form discussion between the students and companies will begin at 10:00 am. The company spotlight session will run from 10:30 to 11:30 am (3 minutes per company). Another free-form discussion session will follow and the event will end at 12:00 pm.
Each company will have its own table and will be approached by entrepreneurial-minded Drexel students. The event will be structured like a career fair, but participating companies will not be expected to have job openings available. Rather, we'd prefer representatives from the companies to discuss their idea/business concept, the startup environment as a whole, and resources they used to start their companies.

Who Else is Participating?

As of February 2014, the following companies have confirmed: Ycenter, Hootboard, Startup Scholar, Startup Institute, Aptagen, McGowan Associates, InfraScan, and SpeSo Health. Hagerty Library will also have a table to discuss current research techniques and patent searching.
