"Fantastic Women: Doing it for Themselves in the World of Sci-Fi and Fantasy"

Event Description
Much has changed since the introductions of Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, and Batgirl. In this panel discussion, four Drexel faculty members will share their research on women in science fiction and fantasy.

 

  • Gail D. Rosen will present her work on "Whedon's Women and the Law: Buffy, Willow, May and Skye" 
  • Sheila Sandapen will present on "The Evolution of Sarah Jane Smith in the Doctor Who Universe" 
  • Fred Siegel will discuss the changing representations of "Women in Stage Magic"
  • Vincent Williams will discuss "Uhura and Changing Politics of Race and Gender"
