from Our Past
The Drexel University community is invited to attend the Drexel Constitutional Leadership Conference on Saturday, May 31.
Advance registration required by Friday, May 30 at 5 p.m.
To register, visit tinyurl.com/DCLC2014Register
Registration is free for the Drexel community (students,
faculty, professional staff and alumni). Student participants can earn three
CEO LEAD credits for attending the all-day conference. Participants will
receive a certificate of completion, breakfast, lunch, SEPTA tokens (with proof
of registration) and a free book and will be entered to win an Apple iPad mini.
The theme of the conference is “Conversations that transform
history: leadership lessons from our past.”
Participants in this interactive, multimedia experience will
learn invaluable lessons from prominent leaders in our nation’s history, and
deconstruct the conversations that helped to shape our Constitution and the
country we live in today. Keynote speaker Judith E. Glaser, MS '69, founder and
chief executive officer of Benchmark Communications, Inc., will bridge the
lessons of history with her research on Conversational Intelligence™ — the
wisdom and practices behind great conversations.
Through panel discussions and breakout sessions,
participants will engage in conversations and exercises to gain time-tested
advice and strategies from academic director of Tigrett Corp Antigoni Ladd and
world leaders including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln,
Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi.
Participants will be inspired and engaged in learning about conversations that
transformed not only history but also the world.
The conference will utilize the resources of the National
Constitution Center to deepen the understanding of how America’s Founders built
trust, handled conflict, accepted the challenge of change, engaged in
negotiation and compromise through the spirit of cooperation and ultimately
created a revolutionary form of government.
All participants will receive a complimentary copy of
Conversational Intelligence: How Great Leaders Build Trust and Get
Extraordinary Results and have a chance to sign the Constitution alongside 42
life-size bronze statues of the founding fathers.
The conference will also honor and recognize the
achievements of those students who have sought to develop both personally and
professionally by participating in at least one CEO LEAD workshop during the
2013-2014 academic year. CEO LEAD certificates will be awarded to students who
attended a minimum of six workshops. Presenters, faculty, professional staff
and alumni will also be honored for their dedication and contributions to the
program and are encouraged to attend.
This one-of-a-kind historically based leadership conference
is part of the CEO LEAD
program and sponsored by the Office of Student Leadership
Development & Traditions.
