Join us for the opening weekend of our new exhibit, Animal Grossology. Based on Sylvia Branzei’s best-selling children’s book series Grossology, this hands-on 3-D exhibit oozes with disgusting science and provides a slightly off-kilter view of the animal kingdom.

Level One
Auditorium
Scent-sational Animals
11 a.m.
Meet some of the smelliest animals in our live animal collection and learn why scents are essential in the animal kingdom.
Scat Show
1 p.m.
Think you know our live animals? See them in a whole new light as we meet some live critters and take a look at the poop they produce.
Animals With Bad Reputations
3 p.m.
Slimy? Scary? Sneaky? Separate fact from fiction in this investigation of fascinating animals that are often misunderstood.

Dissection Macro Cart
Dive deeper into the inner anatomy of some awesome aquatic animals at this delightfully disgusting interactive cart.
Science Live
Live Invertebrates
Spend some time with some live invertebrates like spiders and cockroaches, and learn about how these animals don’t deserve our disdain.

Pachyderm Poop and Decomposer Dump Trucks
Follow the unlikely cycle of elephant excrement, discover how decomposers dig deep, and meet some surprisingly special slimy live animals.

Animal Grossology is the slimiest, stinkiest, and downright yuckiest exhibit you will find in Philadelphia in 2015! Based on Sylvia Branzei’s best-selling children’s book series Grossology, this hands-on 3-D exhibit oozes with disgusting science and provides a slightly off-kilter view of the animal kingdom. Learn why cows chew cud and why snail and slug slime might provide scientists with more insight into treating cystic fibrosis. From poop to pellets and scales to hairballs, check out all the things you aren’t allowed to discuss at the dinner table!
