Event Description
Thinking about a career working for a hospital but want to learn more? Interested in finding a job with a healthcare provider but don't know how to get started?

Join Dornsife School of Public Health for an insider's opinion on what it is like to work for a hospital. Attendees will hear from recent MPH graduates who currently work for local hospitals. Alumni will share stories on how they found their current jobs, the application/interview process, and how their degree prepared them for hospital work.
 

Faculty Remarks:

William Hickey, PhD, Associate Teaching Professor

William J. Hickey received his PhD in Organization Behavior from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, having previously attained an MBA degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MS in Health Care Administration from Trinity University. In addition to experience in hospital administration in both private and public hospitals, and research at the Hospital Research and Educational Trust of the American Hospital Association, the largest part of his career has been in senior management positions in several academic health centers including the University of Texas Medical Center of San Antonio, the University of Pennsylvania and Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia. Throughout his career, he has taught courses in Organization Behavior and Management, Managerial Economics, Health Care Administration and Marketing. He has been a frequent speaker to numerous professional groups in the health area, has published in the health administration and management literature and has engaged in a variety of consultative activities over the course of his career.

Jacquelynn Y. Orr, FACHE

Jacquelynn Y. Orr, FACHE is a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate in the Dornsife School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Social Justice. Prior to her full-time enrollment at Drexel, Jacquelynn served in various mid-level management roles with non-profit, for-profit and government healthcare delivery systems in Missouri (Ascension Health and Saint Louis University Hospital), New Jersey (Rutgers Medical School formerly UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Princeton Healthcare System), New York (NYU Lutheran Medical Center) and Pennsylvania (Select Medical). Jacquelynn received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana and her Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from Saint Louis University School of Public Health in St. Louis, Missouri. Jacquelynn is a board-certified Fellow and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), a member of the Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley (local ACHE chapter) and HLNDV Career Development Committee, a member of the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE) and NAHSE Delaware Valley Chapter (local NAHSE chapter), the first recipient of the 2015 Dr. Nicole Huff Scholarship awarded by the NAHSE Delaware Valley Chapter and the 2016 Ellis Bonner National Scholarship Award winner. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Pennsylvania Chapter, a member and past Vice President of the Drexel Black Graduate Student Union (DBGSU) as well as other professional and social organizations.
