Event Description
Paper making is a process that many are surprised could be done at home with recycled materials. It's a great craft for adults and children alike, allowing for the possibility to infuse your own paper with unique details such as flower petals, confetti or even real seeds! For her senior thesis, graphic design student, Isabella Akhtarshenas, utilized paper making to create a 12-month plantable calendar by adding different seeds in the paper for each month. The seeds include vegetables, native plants and herbs that will promote sustainability when planted. It’s also important to recognize the consideration for process as the handmade paper is 100% biodegradable and fabricated from paper that would've otherwise been trash. Isabella will with hosting a free make and take workshop on paper making with The Smart Set on Thursday, May 23 at the Chestnut Square palazzo from 11am to 2pm. |
