Event Description
We live in a so-called Post-Truth Era in which truth appears to have been replaced by "fake news" and facts, knowledge, science/scientists are being dismissed in favor of opinions, direct observations and conspiracies. Media, once the Fourth Estate, are now considered as central hubs in this development, at times as facilitators, gatekeepers, amplifiers and, at times, as victims.
Bringing together international scholars from across the diverse range of media and communication studies, this panel discussion addresses how these issues raise fundamental questions about the role of media in society and affects the questions we need to ask as media and communication scholars.
