Event Description The Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies and The Westphal College of Media Arts and Design proudly welcome a genre-defining multi-media exhibit, “Invasion: Diaries and Memories of War in Iraq,” to the URBN Center May 15-23. The exhibit reveals personal reflections of the war through the eyes of U.S. Marine Corp. Lt. Tim McLaughlin, journalist and author Peter Maass and photographer Gary Knight.
McLaughlin, posted at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, was a tank commander with the first marine battalion to enter Baghdad in 2003, whose flag briefly covered the face on Saddam Hussein’s statute before it was toppled. Though the three men were with the same unit as it entered the Iraqi capital, it would take nearly 10 years for them to actually meet back in the United States. McLaughlin, Knight and Maass will be making an appearance with the exhibit at the URBN Annex on Wednesday, May 15 for a panel discussion at 6pm, followed by a reception in the URBN Center lobby at 7pm. |
