Event Description
How do professional data scientists write algorithms? It’s not like you see on TV. In this Industry Showcase, we’ll develop a working AI and show students, first hand, how to write algorithms like a pro. The session is equal parts hackathon, presentation, and group participation. The session is open to anyone with a computer science background, but students will benefit most if they:
- Are familiar with R
- Are familiar with GitHub
- Bring a laptop installed with RStudio and a working Wi-Fi connection
About the Speaker:
Jerry Overton is a Fellow and data scientist in DXC Technology’s Analytics group. He leads the strategy and development for DXC's Industrialized AI offering. An author and instructor, Jerry blogs at Doing Data Science, where he shares his experiences leading open research and transforming organizations using data science.
