CATS (Classroom Assessment Techniques), Examinations, and Papers: How Do we Know They Know?
Start Date: 5/18/2012Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Date: 5/18/2012End Time: 2:00 PM

Event Description
The Office of the Provost with the Drexel Center for Academic Excellence invites all Drexel faculty to attend one, or all, of four sessions on best practices in Teaching and Learning, May 17-18, 2012, featuring Dr. Todd Zakrajsek, Executive Director of the International Teaching Learning Cooperative and immediate past Executive Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Please note that seating is limited, and interested faculty members are requested to complete our online RSVP form (on drexel.edu/dcae) by Tuesday, May 15.

As faculty we spend a great deal of time preparing instructional material for our students. How do we know to what extent they are learning what we are teaching…..or maybe even so much more? In this session we will take a quick look at classroom assessment techniques, review research illustrating how exams can be structured for both learning and evaluation, and discuss ways to structure papers to better determine what students have learned.
