The Roots of Latin Music

Event Description
Join Bienvenidos, a Drexel Colleague Resource Group, for a special presentation on "The Roots of Latin Music" with special guest speaker Lynn Riley. This is a free event. Lunch will be provided.

 

Ms. Riley is a jazz musician, composer and educator. She has performed with many great artists like Grover Washington Jr., Philly Joe Jones and David Bromberg, and has opened for artists such as Najee, Nester Torres, Andy Narell, the Indigo Girls, the Mahotella Queens and Compai Segundo of the Buena Vista Club. 

Riley has performed throughout the United States, as well as in Europe, Africa, South America and the Caribbean. More recently, Riley has been traveling and performing in Ghana, Cuba, South Africa, Bolivia, Brazil and Colombia. Riley has been on the faculty of the Performing Arts Department of Drexel University since 1998. She was director of the AMLA (Latin American Musician’s Association) Roots of Latin Jazz program.
