Event Description
The Pride and Prejudice Honors course, celebrating the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, presents: “Pride and Prejudice: Not Just a Love Story.” The students from the class have organized an event, under the guidance of their professor, Dr. Paula Marantz Cohen. Featuring dramatic readings, movie clips, and food characteristic of the period, the event will use Pride and Prejudice as a fun way to launch discussions of our own romantic expectations and about how communication has changed over time! We will also investigate how Austen’s novel has been represented in some movie adaptations and literary spin-offs. Come celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice and explore the novel’s enduring value — and discover why it’s not just a love story.
