Event Description Mozart: Overture to the Magic Flute; Massenet: Ballet music from Le Cid; Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition. Modest Mussorgsky wrote Pictures at an Exhibition originally for piano, but it was French composer Maurice Ravel who gave "Pictures" the incredible orchestral coloring we know today. Jules Massenet's Ballet music from Le Cid is another example of a non-Spaniard composer writing Spanish music...and who doesn't like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? This concert is free and open to the public. |
