Innovating Securely A Presentation by David Whipple This presentation will discuss Information Security principles as they relate to organizational culture traits, focusing on the trait of innovation. Recent research points to the lack of relationship between Security and Innovative cultures as a key reason for security breaches. Case Studies will be presented that strengthen security within innovative organizations. There are five main traits that organizations can implement that can strengthen security within innovative cultures. How is your business or you doing?
Speaker Bio: David Whipple is the Principal Security Architect for Exelon Energy with his home base at PECO in Philadelphia. He was first brought to Philadelphia in late 2013 for the $80 Million Smart Grid Smart Meter project in the Philadelphia Utility area. Prior to that, Dr. Whipple was the CTO for Security at General Dynamics IT in Washington DC and was instrumental in the formation of a new agency and engineering a 3-dimentional situation map in the Pentagon. He has an extensive Military background first enlisting in the US Army in the early 1970’s and 26 years later retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His service spans four continents and was known as the Soccer Ambassador through him and his soldiers playing matches with the local populations. Winning wasn’t important, many lasting relationships were formed on the soccer field that opened communications and saved lives. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the Computing and Informatics at Drexel and associated with the Drexel Cybersecurity Institute.
