Event Description Drexel Green is launching a clothing and shoe recycling initiative in partnership with Community Recycling, a for-profit recycler of clothing with a focus on reuse. From Friday, Nov. 15, through Friday, Dec. 6, clothing recycling bins will be placed around the University City Campus, making it convenient for students, faculty, professional staff and community members to drop off used clothing, linens, shoes and accessories, such as belts, backpacks and purses, to be recycled. See the attached flyer for a full list of accepted and unaccepted items.
Community Recycling bins will be located in student residence halls as well as the lobbies of the General Services Building and parking garage at 34th and Market Streets, Creese Student Center and the Recreation Center. The items will be sent to thrift stores in the United States, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items will return to Drexel Green, which will donate all of the proceeds it receives to the Mantua Peace Garden.
For comprehensive information on how to recycle all types of materials at Drexel, including paper, electronics and plastic, glass and aluminum containers, please consult the Drexel Green Recycling Guide [PDF] and Residence Hall Recycling Guide [PDF]. |
