Interfaith Baccalaureate Ceremony
Start Date: 6/11/2017Start Time: 4:00 PM
End Date: 6/11/2017End Time: 6:00 PM

Event Description
The Baccalaureate Service is derived from the medieval period in European history. The purpose was to worship in celebration of and in thanksgiving for lives dedicated to learning and wisdom. Because the first American universities were founded primarily to educate ministers, the British practice was continued. While higher education in America has evolved significantly, this time-honored tradition remains at many institutions. The earliest references to the religious Baccalaureate service at Drexel date from 1926. However, given the inclusive and diverse culture at Drexel, the baccalaureate has evolved to be interfaith and we welcome graduates, family and friends of all faiths to join us for this special occasion.
