Event Description
The Drexel Mediterranean Ensemble, Bruce Kaminsky, director Presents: Music of Turkey. This performance is dedicated to the memory of the late, Turgay Erturk.

Dr. Turgay Erturk was born in Turkey and received a Ph.D. in Material Engineering from Drexel in 1975. He went on to teach Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and Chemical and Nuclear Engineering at The University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Among his works was “Use of Forming Limited Criteria in Forging Complex Shapes from Metal-Matrix Composites” (1979). Dr. Erturk was also a musician dedicated to the music of his homeland, Turkey. The Turgay Erturk Turkish Music Collection was lovingly donated to Drexel by Ms. Donna Hill, Drexel class of 1970.
