Event Description A Brazilian Life with award winning poet Salgado Maranhão and distinguished translator Alexis Levitin.
Salgado Maranhão, one of Brazil’s leading contemporary poets, will be visiting Drexel University as part of a US tour this fall. His collected poems “The Color of the Word” won Brazil’s highest award, the Premio de Poesia da Academia Brasileira de Letras, for the year 2011. Salgado will share his poetry that will offer a narrative of his unique life, uniting Brazilian culture, race and history. He will be joined by the distinguished translator Alexis Levitin who has published 31 books of translation.
