Learning Hour Series: Volunteerism - What You Need To Know
Start Date: 11/29/2012Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Date: 11/29/2012End Time: 3:00 PM
Event Description
Intended for faculty and professional staff. Being a volunteer can be both challenging and rewarding. This session will provide a framework for developing some key assumptions and questions that will assist you in determining what organization(s) you may want to commit yourself to for a mutually rewarding experience.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the opportunities, challenges and threats that affect today’s non-profit organizations, better understand how to evaluate the fiscal strength of a nonprofit organization and its ability to carry out its mission; and find out if there are any liabilities that may be associated with being/becoming a volunteer.

The presenter, Patricia Q Connolly, is the director of the LeBow College of Business Center for Corporate Governance. She has served on the advisory boards of many organizations and currently sits on the board of directors of Chestnut Hill College and The Forum of Executive Women. Patricia holds a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Light refreshments will be provided.
