End Date: 7/8/2014End Time: 9:00 PM

Event Description

Prepare for National Moth Week by joining Stephen Mason, curatorial assistant in entomology, to learn about one of the most diverse and successful organisms on Earth: moths.

Following an introduction to insects in general, we’ll explore the diversity of moths, specifically those found locally. We’ll take a peek at the Lepidoptera specimens housed in the Academy's historic Entomology Collection and learn about field collection and pinning methods.

National Moth Week offers everyone, everywhere a unique opportunity to become a citizen scientist and contribute data about moths. For more information on National Moth Week events, visit http://nationalmothweek.org/.
