Event Description
Sean Yom, PhD, assistant professor of political science at Temple University

International Area Studies presents International Café with guest speaker Sean Yom, PhD.

The two-and-half year-old civil war in Syria has defied all predictions of its demise through rebel or regime victory.  What accounts for the length and the intensity of fighting?  This talk will emphasize the diversity of rebel opposition, the regime's coercive capacity, and the geopolitical interventions made by the U.S., Russia, Iran, Jordan and Hezbollah. It will also project several potential outcomes of the war.

Sean Yom, PhD, assistant professor of political science at Temple University, is currently finishing his first book on state-building and political order in the post-colonial Middle East. International Café is a monthly forum sponsored by International Area Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences that provides globally themed discussions open to the entire Drexel community. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Jacqueline Rios at jsr62@drexel.edu. Free event.
