Event Description
Planning to apply for fellowships and/or grad school this fall? Perhaps you just want some space to take stock of your experiences and aspirations. The Fellowships Office invites you to this hands-on session to help you begin writing
your
story.
Time and again, we hear from students that the fellowships application process gave them an opportunity to reflect on their lives, figure out who they really are, and what they truly want from their academic/professional paths. A lot of this work happens on the terrain of the Personal Statement, a critical component that helps other people understand why you do what you do, and why they should believe in you. In this hands-on session, we will deconstruct what makes a compelling personal statement, address strategies to navigate "the cliche," and do writing exercises to get you exploring and articulating what
you
are about.
