Event Description This Summer, Drexel will partner with Goodwill of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia for a campus-wide clothing donation drive. With a mission of “putting people to work,” Goodwill plays a powerful role in the workforce development landscape in the region, placing someone in a job every 42 seconds of every business day. Goodwill’s goals were in obvious alignment with the objectives of Drexel’s Workforce Development program, which aims to increase job and training opportunities for the unemployed and underemployed who live in the areas surrounding the University.
Drexel faculty, professional staff and students can contribute to donation bins that will be on campus from Tuesday, June 17 to September 12, 2014. Revenue generated from the collection and resale of donated items will fund employment training for West Philadelphians including work readiness, and basic computer and Microsoft Office skills training at Drexel’s Dana and David Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships.
Bins will be located at the following sites: • Lot A- South of Creese Student Center and Chestnut Square (between 33rd and 32nd), with access from 32nd and Chestnut • Lot C- Parking lot on 3500 Filbert St. • Lot D- Parking lot on 217 N. 35th St. • Lot F- Parking lot on 31st & Ludlow Streets
Faculty, professional staff and students who make donations can pick up receipts at the below locations: • Human Resources Office, 3201 Arch Street, Suite 430 • Front Desk, Creese Student Center
