Culture of Health & Wellness Series: Dangers of Smoking and Tips to Quit
According to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health 2014 Community Health Assessment, approximately 1 in 4 adults smoke. Philadelphia has the highest rate of smokers out of 11 of the largest counties in the United States. Staff have a unique relationship with patients that allows them to help smokers quit. Even brief advice and encouragement can make a difference in a smoker's path to cessation. This course is designed to provide staff with tools to initiate a conversation with tobacco users to help them better achieve their tobacco cessation goals.
All staff are welcome to attend these sessions. Attendance is mandatory for medical assistants, who may earn CME credit for their participation.
