Adult Class: Evolution: What Fossils Tell Us

Event Description
Hear from Academy paleontologist Dr. Ted Daeschler on how scientists search for, collect, and study fossils. Get to see the famous specimen Tiktaalik roseae.

  • $15 members, $20 nonmembers
  • Maximum 20 participants
  • Teachers can earn four Act 48 credits 
     
Hear from Academy paleontologist Dr. Ted Daeschler and Educator Timshel Purdum on how scientists search for, collect, and study fossils. Get to see Tiktaalik roseae, a 375 million-year-old fossil fish, which shows important transitional features between fish and later amphibians. Learn about transitional fossils and their importance to understanding the evolution of major taxonomic groups. This class will be interactive and casual, meant for teachers as well as those  interested in learning more about fossils and evolution.
