Popular Representation from Occupy to Latin America and Beyond
Start Date: 9/25/2014Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Date: 9/25/2014End Time: 5:00 PM

Event Description
Recent years have seen a global explosion of social movements, rebellions from below, and new experiments in popular participation and direct democracy. From Venezuela's Caracazo and the Mexican Zapatistas to the Arab Spring, Spain's Indignado movement, and Occupy, our understanding of the role of people in political life is rapidly shifting.

Luckily, Marina Sitrin and Dario Azzellini can help us keep up with the pace of events in the streets. Co-authors of "THEY CAN'T REPRESENT US! REINVENTING DEMOCRACY FROM GREECE TO OCCUPY" ( Verso Books), Sitrin and Azzellini will bring you their observations and insights from these increasingly global struggles.
